No registration needed.  Tonganoxie Elementary Students K-2

Home Schoolers and other children are welcome to attend

Age: Recommended for children 5+

 

 

Come Join us for a day of stories by renowned children's authors and storytellers Alastair Heim, Jo Ho, Joyce Slater, and JT Nagle! 

 

This Event is Sponsored by the Tonganoxie Arts Council, Inc. and paid for by a Grant from the Leighty Trust Fund.

Where kids not only hear the stories, they meet the writers and illustrators!

Meet the Authors

Alastair Heim is the author of the picture books LOVE YOU TOO, NO TOOTING AT TEA, THE GREAT PUPPY INVASION, HELLO DOOR, QUIET DOWN LOUD TOWN, IF I HAD YOUR VOTE-BY THE CAT IN THE HAT, and IF I RAN YOUR SCHOOL-BY THE CAT IN THE HAT for Dr. Seuss Beginner Books. He lives in Kansas City and is represented by Kelly Sonnack of the Andrea Brown Literary Agency.

"I live in Kansas City with my awesomely, awesome family who inspires me everyday.  Laughter is my favorite sound, purple is my favorite color, and other-people-cooking-for-me is my favorite food.  I am a huge fan of music and have been known to play the guitar with impeccable mediocrity."

Meet the Storytellers

Jo Ho is an accomplished storyteller, actress, and drama instructor.  The  year 2020-21 marks 31 years of storytelling for Jo Ho.  In 1989, she created the storytelling company to delight all ages with collections of  folktales, fairytales, holiday stories, and curriculum enhancement stories.

JT Nagle is an actor, stand-up comedian, voiceover artist, director, and improviser currently based in Chicago. As an actor, JT has performed with the Coterie Theatre, Unicorn Theatre, and KC Actor's Theatre among others. JT’s improv team, Those People, was a finalist for best improv team in Kansas City and was the 15-week champion of Improv Cagematch at iO in Chicago. With Those People, JT has performed all over the country including iO Chicago, Kansas City Improv Festival and the Gainesville Improv Festival. He recently received his MFA in Acting from University of Missouri – Kansas City. JT will use improvisation, physical theatre, and vocal technique to help build characters and stories!

Stories! Art! Music! Laughter! Welcome to the vibrant world of storyteller Joyce Slater. Since 1996 Joyce has led audiences on a magic path through the realm of folktales, fairy tales, ghost stories, personal narratives and more.


As a teaching artist, Joyce revels in the exploration of creativity of both students and teachers. She is listed on the MidAmerica Arts Alliance Touring Roster and the Missouri Arts Council Roster. Joyce is also the Executive Director of the River and Prairie Storyweavers and the Artistic Director of the KC Storytelling Festival.
