Artists Event Details

Judging and Prizes

  • Registration Deadline: May 29, 2026

  • Registration Cost: Adult (16+) $20.00 for Individual or team of 2

  • Registration Cost: Kids (12-15 Year Olds) $10 individual or team of 2

  • Registration Cost: Kids (11 & Under) $10 individual or team of 2

  • Artists will receive a complimentary 48-piece chalk pastel set (you may need to bring more chalk to complete your artwork)

  • Theme: Patriotic to celebrate U.S. 250th Birthday (please no political statements)

  • Participation is limited to the first 25 artists/teams registered.

  • The event is rain or shine

  • Artists will be assigned an approximate 4'x6' sidewalk space for their work.

  • Artists must use only chalk; no oil pastels, permanent paint, or liquid chalk.

  • Food Trucks and Vendors will be present along the street.

  • Artists hospitality room availiable

  • Artists will chalk from 9 am-2 pm.

  • Judging will take place at 2 pm. Our Sponsor, Community National Bank, will be judging and choosing the Winners in the following categories:

Adult (16+) 1st Place: $500.00

Adult (16+) 2nd Place: $200.00

Adult (16+) 3rd Place: $100.00

Kid (12-15) 1st Place $50.00

Kid (12-15) 2nd Place $25.00

Kid (12-15) 3rd Place $10.00

Kid (11 & Under) 1st Place $50.00

Kid (11 & Under) 2nd Place $25.00

Kid (11 & Under) 3rd Place $10.00

The awards presentation will be held at 3 pm in front of Kelly Law Office at 512 E. 4th St., Tonganoxie, Kansas 66086.

Registration & Check-In

  • Artists need to complete the registration form below. You will receive information from tonganoxieartscouncil@gmail.com closer to the event.

  • Artists will check in at the registration table @ Kelly Law Office at 512 E. 4th St., Tonganoxie, Kansas 66086 where they will receive their chalk and their sidewalk square number.

  • AS YOU STROLL THROUGH TONGANOXIE DAYS, COME VIEW ARTISTS FROM NEAR AND FAR AS THEY CREATE AMAZING WORKS OF ART LIVE FOR YOU TO WATCH. BE PREPARED TO BE AMAZED!

  • NOT PARTICIPATING BUT WANT TO TRY OUT CHALKING? THERE WILL BE A FREE PUBLIC CHALK THE WALK AREA FOR YOU TO MAKE YOUR MARK ON TONGANOXIE!

Crafts with the Residents at Tonganoxie Terrace

Engaging with the nursing home community through various art forms, Tonganoxie Arts Council fosters social interaction through creativity. We meet with the residents of Tonganoxie Terrace three times each year and make a craft for an upcoming holiday. This year's craft days are:

May 22nd - 1:30 pm - Memorial Day Craft

October 23rd - 1:30 pm - Halloween Craft

December 11th - 1:30 pm - Christmas Craft
